VISUAL IDENTITY & BRANDING

CASE STUDY:

Solutions2Share GmbH

Solutions2Share GmbH

I was approached by them with the need to create a logo and visual identity for their company, back in 2018. At the time they were a young company and in need of a strong visual symbol/logo and visual identity that would be memorable and unique enough to present them as a tech company/solution company and make them stand out in oversaturated and competitive crowd. You can see what was the result of the process. Overall the logo feels and looks minimalist and modern. The “solution”/problem-solving is conveyed through the maze like shape. Acronym S2S is abstractly interweaved with the number two being placed in a negative space between the two letters “S”.

Solutions2Share GmbH, is an IT company based in Germany. They are a local and regional leader in the Microsoft 365 App development.

A unique and geometric symbol was created and used to portray a hidden a acronym (S2S) as described visually. We have continued our collaboration ever sence, and I am happy to say I am their main graphic designer, covering their entire graphic design and visual identity needs to this day. To my joy, S2S has grown to be one of the leading producers of mentioned software and solutions in Europe.

A side from their company branding we have worked on a lot of different products, including logos, marketing and promo material, as well as mascot design and print material.

FossID AB

FossID, is an IT company with HQ in Stockholm, Sweden.  Their specialization is in finding open source software vulnerabilities.

Our work with them started with a project for a logo for one of their products. After which we ended up working on everything inside the company, including the logo rebrand and everything that a company like their needs in print and in digital formats, including many illustrations, animations, presentations and other material.

While there are certainly many much worse logos out there, this one was definitely not the ideal solution for the company it was representing. Entire balance and geometry was off and thickness of the lines being completely random and non-consistent.  Even the icon (magnifying glass) itself wasn’t symmetrical at all. Kerning (spacing between the letters) was “off” as well and the space between the rim of the icon and blue curved swish (acting as a mag. glass glare) was too small, falling in the danger of visually fusing with the black rim right next to it. Lastly the name "FossID" was a bit mysterious and not clear enough at all, as icon was “too clever”, meaning it could have been read as “Q” instead of “O”, or even not being understood as a letter at all. Considering how unusual and unique the name “FOSSID” is, it was a real issue for the brand overall.

After carefully assesing the task and keeping in mind the look and feel of original logo that client came with and its issues and faults, this is the solution and final design or better said re-design of the logo, as well as a full visual identity board with some of the digital assets done over the years.

This is a great example of how an effective rebrand and correction of logo design and brand can be done, without loosing their established recognizability  and awareness on the market. That helps with improving the look and appeareance of looikng professional and sophisticated without changeing the look too much and alienating the existing clients and partners.

CASE STUDY:

M365 Summit

The M365 Summit Team was founded in 2019 with the idea of organizing online conferences specifically for Microsoft 365 and in particular for Microsoft Teams.  For the past 5 years, team has managed to organize dozens and dozens of online conferences, revolving around specific Microsoft products, or platforms in general. Most of the conferences is for German speakers, but the team hopes to expand to and hold conferences in English as well.

Considering the main idea behind the concept of M365 Summit was connecting and networking, a more approachable and fun - design choice was made. Instead of using classic corporate look and use only font as a mark, a mascot was introduced to the logo. That will ensure logo feels approachable and engaging. While the Simple lettering adds a bit of balance with its serious and bold font.

Overall the look and feel of the final concept is a well balanced (2 versions) logo, supporting both vertical and horizontal use. Mascot itself is also then used to its full extent throughout the material as it enriches the material and creates a more engaging and interesting feel to sometimes "boring" text content.

CASE STUDY:

Teamsware GmbH

Teamsware GmbH is an IT company with background in construction industry. With Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, digitization in planning and construction is finally in full swing and we are right in the middle of it! They have over 20 years of experience in the development, implementation and operation of virtual project rooms and multi-project platforms for the construction industry.

Client came to me with a need for full branding, starting from scratch, so obviuosly we started by creating a logo and then going forward with the other branding elements such as busness cards and other print material, as well as digital elements, including social media posts and banners and website elements, etc.

Following the theme of construction, starting point of the design was based on name Teamsware, with a focus on letters T (Teams)  and W (ware). By carefully tailoring the two letters into one element / icon , we reached the icon which works as a 2D and 3D element symultaiously.

TW Sketch

When perceived as a 2D element the “initials” are prominent. However the shape could also be perceied as a 3D element, where it is very familiar as an abstract construction element. At the same time the icon has a very modern and digital look and style, which all ties in with the general theme and background of the company, revolving around Microsoft Teams.

After finishing the icon and logo, we went ahead and created numerous other branding  elements some of which you can preview here.
